Jack Northrop's Patent Model Constructed of balsa wood, tissue paper, and cardboard, this model bears a strong
resemblance to the N-1M, and has many features found in the real aircraft (hinged wing tips, elevons, rudders). The model weighs three ounces, and has a 33 inch span.
The left wing is signed by John K. Northrop and E. V. Chandler, the builder. The right wing is signed by "D.K.L, 12/2/39" and "E.B., 12/4/39", who were patent attorneys.
The model is now in the collection of the National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC.
