DFS 39d - Project X

In 1937, the Research Department of the Air Ministry ordered a tailless aircraft designed for rocket propulsion. The construction of the aircraft was to be at the Heinkel Aircraft Company in Peenemunde.

Subsequent wind-tunnel testing of the design showed that a central rudder was preferable to the wingtip rudders used in previous designs.

It is obvious from the look of the design of this plane that it is a precursor to the Me 163.
