Delta III

The Delta III was the result of an Air Ministry contract awarded on the basis of the Delta I demonstration flights. The aircraft was to have been built at the Focke-Wulf Aircraft Company in Bremen. The design was a single engine experimental aircraft with a pusher propeller. Delays resulted from the complicated procedures used because of the contract, allowing the Delta IV to be completed before the III.

The Delta III was modified by changing the pusher engine to a tractor arrangement. After a series of test flights, it crashed during a ferry flight to the Federal Air Testing Office at Rechlin. This crash, along with the Delta IV-F3 Wasp resulted in an end of the development of the Delta series of aircraft.
